Carrying the Load

“You, Lord, give true peace to those who depend on you, because they trust you.”   Isaiah 26:3.

Nothing in this world can make you sad when you seek the presence of Jesus for happiness. When our will is completely surrendered to God, and we use our gifts to bless others, the burdens of this world will be lifted. Too often we shy away from complete surrender due to the perceived consequence. Unfortunately, we will never find peace without complete surrender.

Once we have surrendered, we will no longer be seeking worldly wealth, the highest place, praise, or recognition. Jesus never felt better when he received applause or worse when rejected. This was because he was in perfect harmony with God.   At all times, Jesus was content.

Jesus says, “I came down from heaven to do what God wants me to do, not what I want to do.” John 6:38. It was this love that caused Jesus to come to this world to die for my sins. Jesus calls each of us to adopt this standard of living, too.

Many of us are carrying the load this world has to offer because we are trying to meet the standards of this world. In contrast, Jesus says, “Come to me, all of you who are tired and have heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Accept my teachings and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit, and you will find rest for your lives.”  Matthew 11:28,29.

Whether we recognize it or not, we are all loaded down by the burdens of this world. We will continually journey this life feeling unsettled, discontent, and incomplete unless we accept Jesus' offer. Let's cast our burdens upon him today.
