Jesus Heals Physically & Spiritually

Home

The paralytic's friends lowered him down through Peter's roof to the feet of Jesus. Previously, the paralytic went to the priests to find forgiveness of his sins and the priests turned away saying, “You are suffering the consequences of your sins”.   “God has cursed you”.   Now the paralytic was looking up into the loving face of Jesus.

Like beautiful music, Jesus said, “Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven”. Immediately, the paralytic's burden of despair rolls away. Peace fills his entire body and the paralytic lays on his mate in perfect peace.

In the background, the Pharisees watched in anger. They recalled how they had turned their back to the paralytic. They immediately began to worry that they would lose their influence on the people. As they looked at each other, they all thought the same thing in their hearts, “He blasphemed: who can forgive sins but One, even God?”

Jesus read their minds and responded, “What's easier to say, your sins are forgiven; or to say, rise up and walk?” Jesus then said, “So that you will know that the Son of man has the power to forgive sins.” And turning to the paralytic he said, “Rise up and walk”. Immediately, the man jumps up from his mate charged with energy and the strength of a young man.

The Pharisees where dumbfounded by what they had just witnessed. They knew that they had just observed a superhuman power; however, they chose to harden their hearts. They left more convinced then ever that Jesus needed to be silenced forever.

“He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.” Psalms 103:3. I think it's important to note that we can go to Jesus for spiritual healing and physical healing.   God is truly awesome.
